Residential Neighborhood

HOUSING PROGRAMS

Housing is the foundation for personal, educational, career/employment and financial goal attainment.  When our neighbors have stable, safe and adequate housing, our entire community benefits.  Community Response is committed to creating opportunities to stabilize communities through rehabilitating vacant and abandoned properties, building new construction in distressed neighborhoods, empowering residents to become homeowners, and providing supported housing for our neighbors that require our help.   Community Response is a Saint Louis County CHDO (Community Housing Development Organization), and a National Community Stabilization Trust nonprofit partner.

Independent Living Program for Foster Youth

Our supportive housing program has helped us assist over 400 former foster youth with gaining the knowledge, skills and supports needed to prepare for their exit from foster care.  We currently have openings in our scattered site Independent Living Program.  Our program provides the following for each foster youth age 18-21:

  • A furnished one bedroom apartment

  • Case Management support

  • A monthly food allowance; and

  • A bus pass

The Mission of Independent Living is " To empower and equip foster youth with the knowledge, skills and supports needed to become confident, competent and self-sufficient adults"
